Clinical Biography
Allison Lopez, MD, is a board-certified general pediatrician in Dell Children’s Medical Group Pediatrics Mueller, a clinical partnership between Dell Children's Medical Center and UT Health Austin. She specializes in caring for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Additionally, Dr. Lopez is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Lopez earned her bachelor’s in biomedical sciences from Texas A&M University. She earned her medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Health Sciences, where she was inducted as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society based on her academic achievement and scholarship, leadership, ethical behavior, professionalism, and service to the school and community at-large. She completed both an internship and residency in pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she was recognized with the Irwin Gribetz Excellence in Pediatric Primary Care Award at the completion of her training.
Dr. Lopez currently serves as the Medical Director of the Dell Children’s Health Express, a mobile medical clinic program with a focus on community outreach. She enjoys partnering with and encouraging parents and caregivers and empowering them to create safe and healthy environments for their children. She has both an academic and clinical focus on the social determinants of health, those factors related to the environments in which we are born, live, learn, work, play, and age that impact health and well-being, and aims to ensure families have access to the resources they need in order to thrive. She has designed curriculum for the next generation of healthcare leaders that aims to advance health equity, as she believes all children and families should have access to reliable, high quality health care. She serves as the editor of the “Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion” Monthly Feature of the American Academy of Pediatrics Journal. She is a member of the Community Pillar of the Dell Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Advocacy Committee.
