Jack A. T. C. Parker, MD, PhD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, the clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. He specializes in pediatric and congenital heart disease. Additionally, Dr. Parker is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care.
Dr. Parker earned his medical degree from Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands and his doctorate in biomaterials with a focus in wound healing and tissue engineering from Radboud Universiteit in the Netherlands. He completed a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz in Germany and a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen in Germany. He also completed a fellowship in adult cardiothoracic surgery at both the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, a fellowship in pediatric and congenital heart disease at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic transplantation at both the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.
Dr. Parker’s clinical interests include aortic surgery, pediatric and congenital cardiothoracic surgery, transplant surgery, and minimal invasive surgery. His research interests include biomaterials, tissue engineering, experimental surgery models, bioengineering, and wound healing.
