Jake Plafker, CCP, LP, is a certified perfusionist in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. He specializes in operating complex equipment used to conduct cardiopulmonary bypass for surgeries that correct complex heart abnormalities.
Jake Plafker earned his bachelor’s in perfusion technology from the Medical University of South Carolina and his bachelor’s in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jake Plafker previously served as a perfusionist for five years at the University of California, San Francisco (USCF) Benioff Children’s Hospital, where he practiced with some of the country’s leading pediatric cardiac surgeons. His clinical and research interests include enhancing safety and minimizing hemodilution in the perioperative setting. He is also an active member of the American Society of Extracorporeal Technology.
