Jan Alexander, DNP, MSN, RN, is a licensed registered nurse in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. She specializes in caring for infants, children, and adolescents with heart diseases and defects.
Jan Alexander earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and both her master’s in nursing and bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Pheonix. She also earned her Master of Divinity degree with a focus in ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary and her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of California, Davis. She is a certified pediatric nurse and has earned a certification in both pediatric palliative care and Fundamentals of Magnet, which is a program for nursing leaders serve as liaison between nursing staff and other members of the care team to attain the best patient outcomes.
Jan Alexander’s clinical and research interests include reflective nursing practice to develop nurse resiliency and family adaptation in complex pediatric illness. She is a member of the American Ambulatory Nurse Association, the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Texas Nurses Association.
