Avia Sutton, MPH, MS, GC

Clinical Biography

Avia Sutton, MPH, MS, GC, is a certified genetic counselor in the UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children's, a clinical partnership between Dell Children's Medical Center and UT Health Austin.

Avia Sutton earned her bachelor's degree in behavioral neuroscience from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, her master's degree in public health from Tuskegee University, and her master's degree in genetic counseling from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She completed an internship at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), the North Carolina Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) fellowship at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities, a multispecialty rotation at Cone Heath, and additional training in adult and pediatric neurology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Avia Sutton’s previous experience includes a cancer genetic counseling rotation at Orlando Health Cancer Center, a prenatal genetic counseling rotation at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, and a pediatric genetic counseling rotation in pediatric genetics and metabolism at the University of North Carolina. Her clinical interests focus on pediatric neurology and prenatal counseling and her research interests include neurodevelopmental disabilities, public health genetics and education, and patient advocacy.
