Clinical Biography
Avia Sutton, MPH, MS, GC, is a certified genetic counselor in the UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children's, a clinical partnership between Dell Children's Medical Center and UT Health Austin. Her previous experience includes a cancer genetic counseling rotation at Orlando Health Cancer Center; a prenatal genetic counseling rotation at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital; and a pediatric genetic counseling rotation at University of North Carolina Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism. In addition, Avia completed a multispecialty rotation at Cone Heath, and in Adult and Pediatric Neurology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Her clinical interests include pediatric neurology and prenatal counseling. Avia’s research interests include neurodevelopmental disability, public health genetics and education, and patient advocacy.
Avia Sutton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Neuroscience at Nova Southeastern University in Florida; a Master of Science degree in Public Health from Tuskegee University, and a Master of Genetic Counseling degree from University of North Carolina Greensboro. Avia also completed an internship at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI).
