Clinical Biography
Clay Cauthen, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist and advanced heart failure and transplant specialist in the Institute of Cardiovascular Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. He specializes in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology and serves as the clinical lead for cardio-oncology. Additionally, Dr. Cauthen directs the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program at Dell Medical School, where he also lectures first- and second-year medical students in cardiology.
Dr. Cauthen earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine through the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Dr. Cauthen is heavily involved with clinical research and has published numerous articles on advanced heart failure. He is a member of the Travis County Medical Society, the American Heart Association, and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Cauthen is a cardiologist and advanced heart failure and transplant specialist with Ascension Medical Group.
