Clay Cauthen, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist and advanced heart failure and transplant specialist in the Institute of Cardiovascular Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. He specializes in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology and serves as the clinical lead for cardio-oncology. Additionally, Dr. Cauthen is an associate professor the Dell Medical School Department of Internal Medicine at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Cauthen earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine through the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Cauthen serves as the clinical lead for cardio-oncology. He has authored numerous articles on advanced heart failure. He is an active member of the Travis County Medical Society, the American Heart Association, and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Cauthen is a cardiologist and advanced heart failure and transplant specialist with Ascension Medical Group.
