Clinical Biography
David Heckler, PhD, ABPP, is a licensed pediatric psychologist in UT Health Austin Pediatric Psychiatry at Dell Children's, a clinical partnership between Dell Children's Medical Center and UT Health Austin. He specializes in specializes treating preschoolers, children, and adolescents with disruptive behaviors, such as anxiety and/or depression. Additionally, Dr. Heckler is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Dr. Heckler earned his master’s degree in rehabilitation and counseling psychology from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and his doctorate in clinical psychology from Texas Tech University. He completed an internship in child clinical and pediatric psychology at Texas Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in child and pediatric psychology at the Texas Child Study Center.
Dr. Heckler actively participates in applied clinical research related to improving children’s and adolescents’ management of pain, somatic symptoms, and internalizing disorders. He also provides training and supervision to varying levels of psychology trainees.
Dr. Heckler is a pediatric psychologist with UT Health Austin.
