David Heckler, PhD, ABPP, is a board-certified child and adolescent psychologist in UT Health Austin Pediatric Psychiatry at Dell Children’s. He specializes in specializes treating preschoolers, children, and adolescents with disruptive behaviors, such as anxiety and/or depression. Additionally, Dr. Heckler is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Dr. Heckler earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Texas Tech University and his master’s in rehabilitation and counseling psychology from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed an internship in child clinical and pediatric psychology at Texas Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in child and pediatric psychology at the Texas Child Study Center.
Dr. Heckler actively participates in applied clinical research related to improving children’s and adolescents’ management of pain, somatic symptoms, and internalizing disorders. He also provides training and supervision to varying levels of psychology trainees.
