Clinical Biography

Mackenzie Field, MSN, APRN, AGACNP-BC, is a licensed acute care adult gerontology nurse practitioner in the Institute for Cardiovascular Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. She specializes in caring for inpatient heart surgery patients before, during, and after surgery.

Mackenzie Field earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas at Austin and her master’s degree in nursing with a focus in adult-gerontology acute and critical care from The University of Texas at Arlington. She also earned her adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner certification.

Mackenzie Field previously served as a critical care nurse caring for post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those supported by mechanical circulatory support devices and heart transplant recipients. She received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in recognition of her commitment to providing high-quality, family-centered care to adult patients. Her clinical interests include caring for post-cardiac surgery patients in close collaboration with intensive care nurses. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau - Epsilon Chapter, and Texas Nurse Practitioners.
