Clinical Biography

Michelle McCartney, MSN, BSN, APRN, CPNP-PC, is a licensed pediatric nurse practitioner in the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Center within UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s, a clinical partnership between Dell Children's Medical Center and UT Health Austin. She specializes in inpatient epilepsy management, often collaborating with the epileptologist to provide evaluation and medical, dietary, and surgical management of epilepsy and pharmacoresistant epilepsy in children from birth through young adulthood in the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Dell Children’s Medical Center. Additionally, Michelle McCartney is an advanced practice nurse in the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology.

Michelle McCartney earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and her bachelor’s degree in community health from Texas A&M University. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas at Austin. She also earned her primary care pediatric nurse practitioner certification.

Michelle McCartney has presented research at the American Epilepsy Society Annual Conference on both quality of life and epilepsy management. She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Epilepsy Society, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
