Paul Sheeran, MD, is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist and pediatric critical care intensivist in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. He specializes in administering anesthesia for patients undergoing complex congenital heart surgery and caring for critically ill patients in the cardiac care unit. Additionally, Dr. Sheeran is a professor in both the Dell Medical School Department of Pediatrics and the Dell Medical School Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care. He also serves as the Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship for the Dell Medical School.

Dr. Sheeran earned his bachelor’s degree in Spanish language and literature from Whitman College and his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed both an internship and residency in general pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric critical care at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. He also completed a residency in anesthesiology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Sheeran’s clinical and research interests include anesthesia management of patients with a difficult airway, anesthesia management of patients with a mediastinal mass, and the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in pediatric patients with respiratory failure or sepsis.

Dr. Sheeran is a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist and pediatric critical care intensivist with UT Health Austin.
