Satoshi Furukawa, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon in the Institute for Cardiovascular Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. He specializes in delivering minimally invasive heart care and open-heart surgery to open narrow arteries, restore blood flow to the heart, repair leaky heart valves, and surgically correct chronic atrial fibrillation. Additionally, Dr. Furukawa serves is a professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Furukawa earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed both a research fellowship in heart failure and a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a fellowship in lung transplantation at Temple University Hospital.
