Toni Wakefield, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. She specializes in caring for children that require hospitalization for acute, chronic, common, and complex medical conditions that require specialty management. Additionally, Dr. Wakefield is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Wakefield earned a bachelor’s degree in modern culture and media from Brown University and her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford/Stanford University.

Dr. Wakefield is active in medical education and has created innovative curricula for both the Dell Medical School Pediatric Residency program and the Dell Medical School Pediatric Hospital Medicine program. She is also active in quality improvement projects, both locally and nationally, in areas that include sepsis as well as bronchiolitis, and she is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Wakefield is a pediatric hospitalist with Dell Children's Medical Center.
