Clinical Biography
Vanessa Sliva RN, BSN, CPN, is a certified pediatric nurse in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, a clinical partnership between Dell Children's Medical Center and UT Health Austin. She provides surgical consultations and post operative visits for patients. Her work also includes the IMPACT clinic and the Heart Failure, VAD, and Transplant Program. She focuses on educating families on how to care for their child's trach, gastric tube, nasogastric tube, and surgical sites. Additionally, she is a mentor for the staff, and has been the primary preceptor for new nurses.
Vanessa earned a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in psychology from Texas State University. She completed a bachelor of science in nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Nursing School. Her experience includes working in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), High Acuity Pulmonary Unit and Department Supervisor. In 2021, she transitioned to the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. She has over 19 years experience as a nurse, beginning her career at The Children's Hospital of Austin and then Dell Children's upon its completion in 2007.
