About This Center
The Transplant Center is a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin, the clinical practice of the Dell Medical School.
The Transplant Center, housed at the Ascension Clinical Education Center (CEC), diagnoses, treats, and manages the care of adult patients (18 years and older) in need of a kidney, pancreas, or simultaneous kidney and pancreas transplant as well as those willing to be a living kidney donor. Our team is comprised of highly specialized transplant providers who work with patients and their families to develop individualized treatment plans. We use the latest research-proven methodologies to successfully treat patients in need of an organ transplant.
The Transplant Center care team is capable of treating complex transplant cases and offers a range of transplant options to ensure the best possible health outcomes. Patients are cared for by a dedicated multidisciplinary care team, meaning you will benefit from the expertise of multiple specialists across a variety of disciplines. Our fellowship-trained and board-certified transplant surgeons have extensive experience in organ transplantation as well as the ongoing care for transplant patients and work alongside a team of transplant experts, including transplant coordinators, physician assistants, nurses, advanced practice providers, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, and more, providing unparalleled care for patients every step of the way.
We collaborate with our colleagues at the Dell Medical School and The University of Texas at Austin to utilize the latest research, diagnostic, and treatment techniques, allowing us to identify new surgical techniques and therapies to improve transplant care.
To be considered for a transplant, you must first undergo a thorough medical evaluation, which can take up to several months to complete and may involve a variety of tests, including advanced imaging, chest x-rays, consultations, an electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) test, laboratory testing, physical exams, stress tests, and more. These test results allow the Transplant Center care team to determine your candidacy for receiving a transplant. Upon completion of testing, all results will be reviewed with you.
The Transplant Center is comprised of highly specialized transplant providers who are experienced in providing specific services needed to treat transplant patients. Depending on your needs, a team is built around you to ensure you are receiving the most personalized care.
